Clay Classes at The ClayGround
Come Play in the Clay
You don’t have to know anything about pottery to have a really good time making it.
The ClayGround is North Louisiana’s first full-suite pottery studio, offering pottery wheel classes, handbuilding classes and casual walk-in clay experiences for complete beginners, growing potters and people who simply want to try something new.
Clay is tactile, a little messy and surprisingly relaxing. It gives you something to do with your hands while you talk, laugh, learn and spend time with the people around you. And unlike another night of dinner and drinks, you actually made something.
Come with a date. Bring your best friend. Gather your coworkers. Or come by yourself and meet some new people.
There’s more than one way to play in the clay.
Pottery Wheel Classes
Yes, you can actually make something on the pottery wheel.
If you’ve always wanted to try throwing pottery on the wheel, start here.
Our beginner pottery wheel classes are roughly two hours long and include your clay, tools and instruction. We’ll walk you through the process from that first slightly intimidating lump of clay to shaping a piece of your own.
No experience is necessary, and there are several ways to try it.
Date Night: is made for couples who want to do something a little more interesting than the usual night out.
Mud & Merlot: pairs pottery with a relaxed night out and is perfect for friends, couples and anyone who appreciates a little wine with their wheel throwing.
Fun Day Sunday: is our easygoing Sunday wheel experience. Come with someone or come by yourself. It’s a great way to try the pottery wheel without committing to a longer class.

Let Shreveport see what you're making.
We also believe the things our members create deserve to be seen.
Every member will have the opportunity to participate in an ongoing member showcase inside Pierremont Mall, giving our pottery community a public place to share their work with the people who visit the mall every day.
You don't have to consider yourself an artist. You don't need to be selling your work. You just have to be proud enough to say, “I made that.”
Ready for more than a class?
If you've taken pottery classes, understand the basics of working safely and independently in a shared clay studio, and find yourself wishing you had somewhere to make whenever inspiration strikes, you may have found your place.
Bring your ideas. We'll provide the studio.

Pottery Studio Memberships:
Your studio. Your schedule. Your people.
You know you wanna! There are three options for our “budding” ceramic artists in the area. I really need to get out more! This option is for those that know they love clay and are ready to get more serious about their work. This is perfect for anyone, from beginner to expert. We do recommend having a foundational knowledge of working with clay.
When you reach the point where a two-hour pottery class just isn’t enough, it might be time to become a member.
The ClayGround is Shreveport’s original full-suite pottery studio, with an entire creative community under one roof. Our South Shreveport location at Pierremont Mall includes 1,800 square feet dedicated to paint-your-own pottery plus another 1,900 square feet of wet clay studio space designed for wheel throwing, handbuilding and independent studio work.
And this isn't a tucked-away warehouse you have to hunt for. We're right in the middle of South Highlands at Pierremont Mall — surrounded by the places people already come to eat, shop, meet friends and spend an afternoon.
Think of it as having your own pottery studio, without having to own one.
Membership is a simple flat monthly rate designed to take the nickel-and-diming out of making pottery.
Your membership includes the studio tools and equipment you need, personal keypad access to the studio, use of our pottery wheels and workspaces, glazing and kiln firing. You simply purchase your clay as you need it.
Come work on a Saturday afternoon. Stop in after work. Spend a few quiet hours handbuilding. Meet another member and throw together. Membership gives you the freedom to make pottery on your schedule instead of waiting for the next class.
Members also receive special discounts on pottery painting and select workshops at The ClayGround, so you can explore other creative experiences happening throughout the studio.
Make pottery. Make friends. Make yourself at home.
One of the best parts of a community pottery studio isn't actually the pottery.
It's having a place to go.
A place where people know your name. Where you can spread out at a table, put your hands in some clay and work on something simply because you enjoy making it. You'll meet beginners, hobby potters and people who have been working with clay for years, all sharing the same studio.
There’s room to work independently, but you don't have to create alone.
